HOW TO REMOVE OIL BASED PAINT STAINS FROM
CARPET 1.Need: Paper Towel, brush, Scraper, Hot water,
Dish Soap, Mineral Spirits 2.Opening: Paint with oil on carpet next to
dry spot. 3.If the paint is wet, blot the spot with
a wet paper towel, don’t scrub. Remove as much excess as possible.
4.If the paint is dry, use hot water and dish soap to soften the paint.
5.Once the paint is softened, use a knife or pin to scrape the paint stain. Continue
to add more solution as you scrape. 6.Add more hot water solution as you go
7.If it is not softening, use a handheld steamer while scraping.
8.If the stain remains, dip your towel in some mineral spirit or turpentine and apply
to the stain. 9.Oil paint is considered very hard to remove
from carpet, so if the paint is still visible, try giving COIT a call for a specialized treatment.
